Someone Thinks the Name is Good

Someone is trying to sell the URL www.virtualphilosopher.com for nearly a thousand dollars! I can't imagine that any philosopher would have the money for this. So it will be interesting to see who buys it.

If they succeed in selling the name, it is worth remembering that the URL for this site is www.virtualphilosopher.org

As a pre-emptive measure, I've also bought the URL www.virtualphilosopher.co.uk - that URL should be working too from tomorrow. I'll point it at this site too.

Philosophy for Children book Wins Educational Writers Award

Humanitie, the relaunched Humanist Society of Scotland magazine (which since Winter 07 has included a column I write called 'Virtual Philosopher') has a website which allows you to download back copies as pdfs - many articles and interviews of interest to philosophers here, featuring A.C. Grayling, Stephen Law and others.

Philosophy Bites climbs the iTunes podcast chart

Philosophy Bites, the podcast I make with BBC World Service producer (and co-author of Wittgenstein's Poker and Rousseau's Dog) David Edmonds, is rapidly climbing the iTunes charts. It is currently at 19 of all podcasts, six places above Radio 1's Best of Chris Moyles and several places above BBC Radio 4's In Our Time. We've had 2.5 million downloads so far. If you include the 14 episodes on the sister podcast  Ethics Bites we are up to 94 interviews...95 after tomorrow when I will put up an interview with Professor Wendy Brown of Berkeley on the topic of Tolerance.
